Bar & Beyond Norwich Review

This post is really ever so late! Sorry! I thought it had posted, but turns out my app had broken 😦 Forgive me!

Norwich is so lucky for it’s food & drink scene. I don’t think it knows quite what it has on it’s doorstep!

However, having returned to the area last year for work, I noticed it had been a little lacking in the late night groove.

Launch Party

I got the opportunity to attend Bar & Beyond to celebrate their grand opening 24th February 2017, and to celebrate this they held a launch party with TOWIE’S Lauren Pope as special guest.

Overview

Bar & Beyond is a new concept, one that is certainly new to Norwich. The Bar and beyond ‘ethos’ offers an experience with food served at the bar from early evening and then after dark; ‘going beyond’ providing the club experience with live acts and good music.

Previously known as the imfamous ‘Chicargo’s’, I think it is safe to say the Bar & Beyond take over has been a much needed one. From the moment you walk through the doors, whether that’s to chill with a bite to eat or to put our dancing shoes to good use.. It definitely has the athmosphere to go with it.

Check out their Food Menus.

The cocktail menu is extensive and unique, with influences from popular drinks like ‘Long Island Iced Tea’ & the ‘Woo woo’. Cocktails are served in a variety of vessels, like tin cans, and milk bottles, ranging from £7-£9.. (Unless you get in before 10 for 50% off). I tried quite a few cocktails, but my favourite was the ‘Bramble’, a fruity gin concoction. There’s also an impressive sharing cocktail for groups. Don’t worry! They do beer too 🙂

Drinks Menu

As well as the interiors and cocktails, there is also great entertainment with special guests being quite a common thing!

Final thoughts…

There is plenty of space to dance, though fortunately for the people of Norwich I haven’t put my amazing dance shoes to good use yet! The opening night felt a little chaotic, and I’d maybe even go as far to say a little disorganised… This was after some issues/miscommunication between staff members, and having to wait, what felt like a gazillion years for the bar to get more glasses!

In the end though,  although we left at 1 ish (missing Lauren Pope), we were very well looked after by the manager to make up for this.

For those looking for something a bit different, Bar & Beyond fits it. I would admittedly say, to the true Chicago go’oers, it is a complete remodel so not to expect an ‘upgrade’ of the old venue. The music is as you can imagine, in keeping with the new style and modern take. As long as you’re looking for a good time and are open to embracing the strong theme, book yourself a booth and head down! 😀
